CHORVÁT, Peter: The Operations of Field Slaughterhouses of the Slovak Army During the War Against the Soviet Union, 1941–1944.
Autor: CHORVÁT, Peter
In this study, the author addresses the operations of the Slovak Army‘s field slaughterhouses during the war against the Soviet Union from 1941 to 1944. The theoretical foundation for examining this topic was the Czechoslovak Army service regulation H-X-3 (1935), which also remained in force in the Slovak Army. The specific activities of the field slaughterhouses during the period under examination were primarily associated with the operations of two higher formations—the Mobile Division and the Security Division. A study of archival materials confirmed relatively frequent relocations of the field slaughterhouses, as well as periods when their activity declined; in such cases, orders were repeatedly issued for units to procure supplies from local resources.
