The subject of this study constitutes the issue of legislative modifications concerning the Hungarian warfare in the Middle Ages. In the introduction the author presents the definition of the military law, which was recorded on the basis of Dectretum Gratiani for Hungarian legal practice in the most distinguished Hungarian legal work (collection of customary law) called Tripartitum (released in 1514).  In part I, the author paid attention to the development of the Middle Ages law focusing on the Hungarian legal system. He explains several legal notions and relations, approaches the sources of law with the emphasis on the customary law, act, decree, privilege. Already the statutes of the first Hungarian kings (mainly Stephen I. and Koloman) regulated the field of warfare, but not very systematically. The provisions represent the basis for highlighting the social-legal status of the members of various spheres of Hungarian society (miles, civis, civilis). The author regards Ondrej II's Golden Bulla (1222) as the first more complex legislative basis of Hungarian warfare. The appropriate articles of  this bulla are analyzed in details are compared with the actual theories of Slovak and Hungarian historians. Moreover, the author deals with all renovations of the Golden Bulla (1231, 1267, 1290, 1351, 1384) with respect to eventual differences. On the basis of legal and chronicle sources he summarizes the organizational model of Hungarian military forces since the second half of the 13th century up to the end of the 14th century. In conclusion he quotes several Tripartita provisions, which reflect the military facts not appearing in the legislative-legal modifications.
