In his study, the author capitalized his long-term research in the German archives which enabled him to bring an amount of new knowledge in the issue in question. Thanks to the extensive heuristic base, he was able to bring a relatively detailed probe into the issue of German-Slovak relationships in the road construction area. In terms of military historiography, it is important that his attention is concentrated on the negotiations on the road construction which had been determined by the military-strategic goals of Germany in the context of aggression against Poland and USSR between 1939 and 1941. Therefore, the study deepens the knowledge not only on the topic of German-Slovak economic but also military relationships. In the very introduction, the author managed to locate the whole issue into a wider context. He is closely following the interests pursued by the German party when planning the large interstate with Slovakia. He notes that Germans were considering both the short-term and long-term goals. The greatest emphasis was laid on the pragmatic military-strategic goals, in particular in the context of the aforementioned preparations of the German Wehrmacht for the war with Poland and USSR. However, the economic goals were also taken into account, which was directly related to the effort to gradually incorporate the SR into the highway system of the Central and South East Europe.
