In his study, the author focuses on analysis of one of the most extensive military operations in the history of Ancient Persian Empire which took place in 525 BC. The Persians invaded Egypt and conquered its territory without serious troubles. Success of the venture was largely influenced by extensive and complex preparations preceding it. The study presented explores individual steps of the Persian command, analysing the composition and organization of troops and fleet, diplomatic preparations preceding the campaign, logistic support thereof and securing of the area the troops were planning to pass. The study provides an image of the broad scale of preparatory actions which preceded extensive military campaigns in ancient times already.
