In the study, the author deals with the issue of origins, from which the Slovaks – members of the Czechoslovak army in the Soviet Union in 1942 – 1944 came from. Majority of the sources in processing the topic comprised the archival documents from the funds of the Military Central Archive in Prague, Military Historical Archive in Bratislava and Russian State Military Archive (RGVA) in Moscow. Based on the analysis thereof, the author declares that the most signifi cant area, from which Slovaks as volunteers were arriving to this Army in the reporting period were the prisoners of the Slovak and Hungarian Army deployed on the Eastern frontline.
