The contribution is aimed at analysing the military songs which are connected to the war-time Slovak Republic. The goal was to examine the forms of period ideology in the six song almanacs published in 1934 – 1941, approved by the individual institutions with signifi cant ideological impact on society: Ministry of National Defence, Ministry of Education and National Edifi cation, Headquarters of the Hlinka Guard and Hlinka Youth. Within the two working categories of formally composed and folk songs, we observed a quantitative increase of the militant authors’ lyrics characterised by the simplicity of form and stereotype of topics restricted to the ideas of nationality, religiosity and unifi cation. These songs were a part of the Slovak Republic authoritarian regime propaganda.
