The topic addressed by the author is processed based on extensive research of contemporary archival materials, supplemented with information from scientific, scientific-popular, popular literature and contemporary press. First of all, it is based on hitherto unpublished documents of personal nature, which constitute the contents of the personal file of Air Force Col. J. Trnka professionally managed in the Military Central Archive – Military Historical Archive Prague. In connection with the content of the presented material, it should be emphasized that the staffing of the 1st Czechoslovak Mixed Air Division in the USSR comprises one of the interesting chapters in the history of the Czechoslovak Air Force. The material describes the defence of J. Trnka against the accusations of Air Force Capt. Ľ. Koza in the matter of Trnka’s conscious collaboration with the Germans during his service in the Slovak Air Force, particularly during his service as commander of the Flight School.
