This study is aimed mainly at presenting the individual provisions of the relevant laws in force in the territory of the Slovak Republic through examples within the collection of the Institute of Military History – Museum Department Svidník of the Military Historical Museum and to point out the specifics associated with the acquisition of various objects of a military nature in the form of weapons, ammunition, munition, explosives and ammunition elements as potential finds. In terms of museum practice, this is a rather debated issue, since the finds of such objects are quite frequent in several areas of Slovakia and almost every museum can encounter them in various forms under certain circumstances.
