In his interview, university professor Miroslav Kmeť recalls his training at the military department during his university studies as well as his compulsory military service. The training at the military department, taking place on a weekly basis during the fourth year of the university, was completed with a stay at the Kežmarok military training area. After his examinations there, he was assigned the military rank of corporal-aspirant. From 1987 to 1988, he completed his compulsory military service at the Engineer Battalion in Kadan, Czech Republic, lasting for one year. He retired from active duty with the rank of sub-lieutenant. In the interview, he focuses on the numerous nuances of his soldier times, presenting his perspective on the phenomenon.
