In the study the author deals with the questions of the interaction between two decisive subjects that form an inseparable part of the so-called Czechoslovak crisis in 1938. Th e work consists of several themed -aligned chapters, whilst the author has used the accessible archive material from Hungarian, Czech and Slovak provenience, the contemporary press releases as well as the relevant special literature to compile it. He starts with acknowledging the public with the build-up of Czechoslovak fortifications in Slovakia and Carpathian Ruthenia in the 30s of the 20th century. He observes the fortification process in the space and time relation, and that is from 1933 up to 1938. Moreover, he mentions some weaknesses of the fortification system, such as insufficient field fortifications of the region Carpathian Ruthenia, and the drawbacks in the training of the troops in the fortifications and some others. He draws the attention to the military value of the Hungarian Royal Army in 1938 with some residues to the past.
