This study examines in detail the discovery and investigation of an espionage case involving Staff Captain of Vilém Tikal (1895–1936), an officer assigned to the Provincial Military Command in Prague. Within a broader context, the article also describes the offensive intelligence operations conducted against Czechoslovakia in the 1930s by Hungarian military intelligence via a specialised outstation in Vienna. The article draws primarily on archival sources from the Archive of the Security Services in Prague (ABS), the National Archive in Prague (NA), the Military Historical Archive in Bratislava (VHA), and the Military Central Archive–Military Historical Archive in Prague (VÚA–VHA).
