The author in this study picks up the threads of his previous contribution published in the journal of Military History No 4/2003. He describes politic situation created as a consequence of the September's campaign in 1848, the attempts ofa new Austria-Hungary government to conclude an agreement with Vienna, the failure of their effort and the beginning of military solution of accumulated problems. He monitors the attitude of individual armies at both enemy sides, which passed through Slovakia and above all, he tracks military corpses, regiments and attacking arrangements, in which the Slovak volunteers were concentrated in so called „winter campaign‘. The primary item of  his interest is the area of central Slovakia mining towns, mainly Banská Bystrica and its surrounding, and the development and progress of military actions that took place in this area.
