The author of published study tried to depict the influence o the Czechoslovakian military garrison on the development and character of Nitra town in the inter-war period of time. Elaborating this topic the author based on archive sources as well as that time and current special literature. He outlines the brief overview of fundamental military — historical milestones of Nitra since 13th century. He pays attention to main military aspects, which influenced the life of the town from the permanent army formation in 18th century. In the main part of his contribution the author describes the way of operation of the Czechoslovakian army and its power mission in Nitra in the time immediately after the constitution of Czechoslovakia in 1918. He compares its number status with the number status of civilians. He also illustrates the national composition of corpses of officers and non-commissioned officers of 7th infantry regiment and 110th heavy artillery regiment in the thirties, and the national composition of the military garrison in Nitra in 1930.
