The contribution represents a general analysis of the Slovak history as the scientifical problemacy in the past and today.In the introduction the author draws peculiarities of the subject and methods of the military historical science, its tasks, position and importance in the frame of social sciences. It explains focus of the scientific programmes and opportunities of the military historical workplace in Bratislava, Slovakia, as one of the scientifical departments of the Military Historical Institute of ČSA in Prague from its establishment in 1967 till the year 1989, when it gained a relatively individual position. In the year 1994, by the foundation of the independent Military Historical Institute, all assumptions were created for the realization of basic probes into the most important historical periods of Slovakia and the long-term directions of the military-historical researches were elaborated.
