The author of this survey analyzed the military preparedness of the September insurrection of Slovak volunteers in 1848 and evaluated the possible courses and outcomes this insurrection might have taken. Based on an analysis of historic material and professional literature, the survey shows, that already the act of recruitment has been carried out improperly, which had a negative impact on the structure of the volunteer corps and mainly on the level its readiness for action and its moral profile. The survey further points out numerous situations and problems arising as a result of the growing influx of volunteers to our home country, which affected not only the material and the technical basis in the course of the insurrection, the structure and the organization of the corps, but also its combat preparedness and battle tactics.
