In a wider context, the survey deals with the peace period after the end of World War I and as far the highly complex process of constitution of the borderlines of Slovakia in the period between 1918 and 1919 is concerned, it is limited only to a partial treatment of the entire matter. The survey is marked by an analytical character, whereby the conclusions made by the author are based on the evaluation of abundant primary sources of domestic provenience, not forgetting the close correlation between Czechoslovakia in the process of formation and the superpowers of the Alliance, which played a decisive role. The process of constitution of the borderlines of Slovakia is seen to be the key-element, indispensable for determination and the definition of the Slovak territory. The survey provides a global view on how decisions taken on the political and diplomatic level were translated into the actual realization of such decisions on the military level. Therefore the military aspect is in this survey a dominating one, showing the effort to get the territory of Slovakia under military control in order to fit Slovakia definitely as integral part into the framework of a new state.
