The published material came into existence in the 2. Intelligence Department of the Ministry of National Defense of the Czechoslovak Republic, immediately after Germany occupied Austria on March 12 and 13 in 1938. It is based on a detailed analysis of the preparations and the course of the nazi aggression. The material „The German occupation of Austria“ has been drawn up by internal and external staff members of the above-mentioned Department, providing a complex picture of the course of the Nazi intervention and drawing conclusions, according to which acts of aggression against Czechoslovakia represent potential threats, which must be taken into account. The document points out not only the military aspect of the whole issue, but mainly the enormous rapidity, at which the German Army was able to prepare and carry out the whole occupation, and the political background, whereby the authors express at some points rather unclear speculations regarding mainly the diplomatic preparation of the nazi intervention. The published material can be found in the Military Historical Archive (in Prague) of the Ministry of National Defense.
