The published documents and the introduction article on the military situation in Slovakia and the importance of Slovakia for the defense of Czechoslovakia, represent valuable parts helping us to get a good picture of the military, and indirectly also of the political situation of Slovakia during the tough period of the Munich crises. The presentation of ideas on military precautions to be taken, in order to protect Slovakia in compliance with the broader context of national defense, is captured in the original archival materials and in the respective notes. The documents are part of a set of historic resources titled „The Regiment Command during national war alert“, which are located at the Military Historical Archive in Prague. The published works clearly show, that the Command of the Czechoslovak Army has given adequate attention to provide for the protection of Slovakia. In case of an attack from the part of Hungary, the III. Army Division was ready to persistently fight for the southern border with the intention to keep mainly the area determined by the three towns Levice - Krupina - Lučenec and not to allow the enemy to proceed across the Poddunajská lowland towards the town of Nitra Aconnection to Romania has also been established. The protection of the southwestern parts of Slovakia was in the competence of the IV. Army division and of units appropriated from the reserves of the Supreme Command. Threatening hostile actions of the Polish army in the northwest of Slovakia would have been intercepted by the reserve regiment of the Supreme Command, even though in this respect the Army Command would have preferred a peaceful political solution.
