The author is one of the most significant Slovak historians of the 20th century. When processing this historical topic he focused attention on four areas of interest: army and the economy of the town, construction of barracks and urbanism, army and cultural life in the town, influence of the military garrison on political and national situation in the town. In the introductory part he pays attention to the relations of Slovak towns to military garrisons within the former monarchy from the last third of the 19th century until its disintegration in 1918. The main part of his contribution is oriented, from the contents or factography detail point of view, to the clarification of relation Slovak town - the Army after 1918 and to the development of various interactions during the two decades of inter-war Czechoslovakia existence.
