The author deals in his study with acting of the Slovak and German armoured units in the area of Eastern Slovakia on the eve of Carpathians-Dukla operation in the late-summer of 1944. The study is based on archive research in the Military Historical Archive, Archive of the Slovak National Uprising Museum, specialised literature and memories of the former Army of the 1st Slovak Republic personnel. It brings detailed information on the organisation, armament and personnel composition of the Field Unit of the Slovak Armoured Regiment, the only tank/mechanised unit of the East Slovak Army and the plans for its engagement in the Slovak National Uprising. Simultaneously, the author provides a survey of German units tasked with disarmament of the East Slovak Army. The main part of the study is focused on combat operations of the Slovak and German armoured units during disarmament of the East Slovak Army from August 31 to September?, 1944.
