his scientific study is a deep and thorough anylysis of the organisational development of the Austro-Hungarian Anny in the second half of the 19th and the beginning of 20th century. The author follows the organisational development of all three relatively independent components of the Austro-Hungarian Army Infantry : the so-called Common Army (King and Emperor's), the Austrian and Hungarian National Guards (Landwehr and Honvéd) and the Austrian Home-guards (Landsturm and Népfekelés). Tlie study was elaborated on the basis of the existing specialised literature and sources and materials of that time from the Slovak and Hungarian archives. It is the work in which the author in a way summarised the results of his search so far into the respective area and supplemented them with the latest knowledge from archive research.
