Anthony Bonfini is the author of a splendid work on the Greater Hungary history since the oldest times until 1496. His work is relatively unknown in the Slovak historiography, as well as his biography. In the introduction the author of the study pays attention to Bonfini's biography with focus on his function in the post of the court historiographer in the Greater Hungaria Royal Court. He provides a survey on the Bonfini's works and book publications of Decades so far and briefly familiarises with the contents of 45 books that form the Decades proper. In the next part he concentrates on the period of Mathias Corvinus's rule that maps altogether 10 books (from 9th book of the 3rd decade to the 8th book of the 4th decade). With the use of specific cases and passages it is documented here how Bonfini reflected major military events, the Hungarian Army and military science in the period of Mathias Corvinus.
