The study deals with till now non-processed aspect of the nationality policy in Hungary within the army. The study is based on assessing interpretation of the aim of Hungarian political parties efforts at the independent army and the approach to defence acts on the background of important military and political issues. On the basis of the materials from the Hungarian Assembly negotiations the author supported his interpretation of the set thematic area by convincing arguments. In addition to the attitudes of Hungarian political alignments he included also the attitudes of non-Hungarian parties deputies at the Assembly who referred to the negative influence of Hungarian ambitions within the Army upon its non-Hungarian members and upon the position and rights of non-Hungarian population in general.

Key words: Military History. Hungary. Army. Hungarian Assembly (1889 — 1914).
