The study describes the protection development of the Slovak sections of the Czechoslovak state border in the above-mentioned period focusing on the exposed south-west, i. e. the Austrian section. In the study the author paid appropriate attention to the engineer and technical utilities building at the Slovak-Austrian border, the co-operation of the Ground Forces and the Army units, the establishment of the 4th Fort Battalion in Malacky and the Patrol Service on the Danube. An important part of the study is given to the 11th Border Guards Division in Bratislava re-organisation to the 11th Border Guard Brigade as well as to the following organisational changes within this Brigade. The author characterised also the measures taken to strengthen the protection of the Slovak — Hungarian border that started on 24 October 1956 due to the development in Hungary not only within the Border Guard but also within the Army units. In the conclusion the author refers to the fact that from autumn 1965 the 11th Brigade started to prepare extensive organisational changes as well as changes within the state border protection system.
