The author briefly described the construction of light and heavy fortifications before the World War II in the territory of the Southern Moravia. The Army of the Czech Republic included some of them into combat readiness facilities where from they were excluded only in autumn 1999. The author refers to the fact that the construction of fortification in the Southern Moravia started in 1936. The author follows up the organisation of fortification construction. The construction of fortifications in the next years started mainly due to the connection of Austria to Germany on 12 March 1938.
