The author tries to fill a gap in to date research of military history in Slovakia. He starts from to date results of Hungarian, Austrian, Czech, Slovak, German, English and American historiography. The study gives a complex and plastic picture of Austrian corps activity in Napoleon“ s army campaign in Russia in 1812. In second chapter the author gives a survey of coalition wars in 1792 — 1809. The study deals with the characteristics of warfare at the beginning of 19th century as well as with political development in 1809 — 1812. .
