In the study the author, young Hungarian historian of Budapest Military Historical Institute, describes the last German counter-offensive in the territory of Slovakia. A goal of the counter-offensive was the liquidation of the bridgehead at the river of Hron that the Soviet troops seized in January 1945 during averting German attempts at breaking of German and Hungarian troops encirclement in Budapest. The published study gives a lot of information on German troops and modifies or argues against some opinions on deployment of some SS-divisions which have not been in Slovakia and gives details not only on divisions but also on their subordinated elements.
