In the introductory part he gives a retrospective view on organisational development of cavalry in Habsburg Empire from the 15th century up to the lost war of the monarchy with Prussians in 1866. He refers to a specific aspect, namely forming of Hussars in Hungary that had a certain impact upon the development of Austro-Hungarian cavalry in Europe. Large part of the material is devoted to the development of Austro-Hungarian cavalry since the war between Prussia and Austria that required a principal reorganisation of the Army, through Austro-Hungarian equalisation that resulted in validation of new defence acts. He continues with Defence Acts of 1912 up to the outbreak „of the World War I. In addition to archive research the study is based on wide spectrum of professional literature of Hungarian and Austrian provenience.
