ŠTAIGL, Jan: Organisation and Main Directions of Work of the Defence Intelligence (Military Counter Intelligence) of the Czechoslovak army in 1945 – 1970. Vojenská historia, S, 4, 2001, pp. 62 — 84.

The study analyses difficult and to date at least elaborated problems of building and activity of so-called defensive part of military counter intelligence in Czechoslovakia in 1945 — 1970. The author refers to the fact that after installation of communist government monopoly the counter intelligence bodies became one of the most important tools of total control of the Army and mainly of its command corps. They organised and managed mass reprisals of military persons representing real or potential danger for the new regime or because of other reasons inconvenient to representatives of the regime. They were considered to be a part of state security within the Army. As the author states further on, in 1951 the military counter intelligence was incorporated into the scope of newly established Ministry of  National Security. After fusion of the Ministry of National Security and the Ministry of Interior in 1953 the military counter intelligence became one of independent agencies of the new Ministry of Interior with the role of providing state security within the Armed Forces.
