The study deals with the partial issue of military production in Slovakia on the turn of 30's and 40°s of 20th century, i .e. with the establishment of production of chemical warfare agents in the Military Factory No. 4 (MF 4) in Zilina in 1935 (testing production and from May 1937 — routine operation) in the Military Factory No. 5 (MF 5) in Zemianske Kostoľany which was established in February 1938. The study briefly characterises the situation in these factories after Munich events and gradual liquidation process of their production capacities forced by German pressure after the rise of the Slovak State up to the establishment of the Military Technical and Chemical Institute. The study gives to date unknown or almost unknown facts on this specific military production in our territory, on the fate of production facilities, including the production line purchased from the American firm — U. S. Ordnance Engineers Inc. from Cleveland as well as on final products. The study describes the transformation of MF No. 5 to the Military Technical and Chemical Institute determined besides other mainly by the problems of personnel provision of its activity.
