The military oath is a kind of public promise of allegiance connected with a commitment to fulfil military duties in interest of a certain person, institution or ideals. The manuscript of the oath adopted in 1705 at insurgent assembly in Sečany is deposited in the State Archive in Prešov. This old military oath written in the Slovak language is so far the oldest known Slovak military oath.
