The author of the study focused on the oldest part of sources related to Langobard history and showed that already in antiquity authors who wrote about Langobards´ movements, did not have enough information to be able to credibly catch these movements. When the authors missed exact and credible data, they leaned upon the mythology or they created fables by themselves to credibly include the Langobards´ movements in the historical development of other German tribes possibly of then Roman Empire. He showed in his work how more general mythological ideas of German tribes are intermeshed with specific mythological ideas of particular ethnic groups living originally in the north of Europe. The author states that if we carefully trace several layers of mythological and historical consciousness, we will find in them a lot of common elements with other ethnic groups that created their mythological and historical consciousness very long ago.
