The published material points out the fact that one of positive tasks of all museums is also the work with collections, their creation, protection and broad use. Already from its establishment „The Museum in Svidník“ (originally the Dukla museum) paid maximal attention to this activity and considered it a priority in its complex orientation. The author states that already during the construction of the natural military museum in Dukla, open on the occasion of the 15th Carpathian-Dukla Operation anniversary in 1959, the foundations of the future museum were laid. It was preceded by seeking, repairing, conserving and later installing of heavy combat equipment in original firing positions, renewal and reconstruction of bunkers, trenches and command observation posts. The collection activity of the Museum workers was even strengthened after the establishment of the Dukla Museum in 1965, because the own collection fund was and till now is a basic condition of the very Museum existence.
