The author in the study depicts changes on the frontier in the years 1938 – 1939, as well as the frontier protection system in Slovakia in this period. He analyses attempts at stabilisation of conditions on the frontier that were complicated by tense relations between both states. He pays great attention to functioning of a small frontier trade, visa system. He takes notes of political, economic, social and also military aspects. He outlines the whole atmosphere, moods of population, but also conditions that prevailed here.
