The reviewer points out that our soldiers´ stay in Italy from November 1943 to the end of the war is a separate chapter of the Slovak involvement in the World War II on the side of Germany. Neither this topic has been satisfyingly elaborated on an expert level up to this day irrespective of total absence of published personal testimonies. One of them – a personal notebook of former Division member Vincent Lofaj, was prepared for publishing in this journal. Vincent Lofaj of the Orava region kept his diary during stormy days at the beginning of 1945. Thanks to him at least we have an opportunity to take a look inside the souls of soldiers worrying about their own life in the last week of the bloody war.
