Intentionofthepublishedmaterialis toapproachthepolitical consolidationofCzechoslovak People’s Army (ČSĽA) in 1968-1971, whereasnot only the reinforcement of its party unity was in question, but also the necessary cleansing from the “active representatives of the right-wing opportunist and antisocialist opinions”, similarly as after February 1948. From the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSC) leadership’s point of view, it was essential to evaluate the Command as a whole, at the level of individual ranks and experts as well as in terms of strengths and weaknesses of individuals. As aresult, all the “unstable and fluctuating ones, not proving the necessary class-political and international attitudes authorizing them to remain the line sof Command” had to leave.
