The contribution is aimed at providing an analytical and interpretation refl ection of the selected editorials of Milo Urban, the author working in 1940-1945 as the Editor in Chief of the Gardista Daily. The selection of texts correlates with the points of the charge in the criminal case against Urban for the crime of collaboration in 1947 and at the same time illustrates his opinions on the ongoing war confl icts and the participation of Slovakia in it. The editorial analysis consists of three parts representing the key points in Urban’s journalistic strategy as a part of enforcing the period discourse conformable with the politics of the war Slovak Republic: opposition, unifi cation, consolidation. The study also introduces the historical and cultural events making up the scene of Urban’s journalistic activities in the 1920’s to 1940’s along with the circumstances relating to Urban’s lawsuit.
