The study analyses the peace negotiations in Tylž, Eastern Prussia (current Kaliningrad ´s area of Russia ) between the Russian tzar Alexander I and the French emperor Napoleon I. The author tried to advance the importance of these negotiations in the complex context of the international foreign policy situation in that period. She briefly outlined the development of the French – Russian relationships after The Great French revolution, as well as the inner policy of Russia. The work zooms in the external factors leading to the subscription of the peace agreement between these countries. The author states that Russia did not lose from the territorial point of view by the subscription. It just had to give up some of its positions in the east Mediterranean. Next she remarked that Napoleon was for the 1.time confronted with the limits of his own alternatives, which Russian had given him. Some of the contemporary politicians already judged that France had not stroke the right direction, especially not in relation to Prussian, which France wished to destroy.
