The author focuses on the evaluation of the personality of Ľudovít Štúr as one of the most reputable persons of Slovak national life in the second half of 19th century. Meanwhile, he points to the fact that a practical outcome of his philosophical opinions on a state from the Slovak national issue point of view resulted in an armed fi ghts of Slovak voluntary corps against Hungarian revolutionary army. In the historic context, the author stresses the necessity to see and reassess objectively the range of the alliance between Slovak national Movement and Vienna in the light of the successful Hungarian revolution. In addition, he pinpoints the relation of Hungarian revolution with the solution of nationalistic issue, or its approach to national and relevant demands of Slovak nation in Hungary from the development point of view.
