One of the phenomena of 1st WW that was not so much in the focus of historical science is the phenomenon of a mass captivity that was brought in by the war. The most sensational was the flee of one of the most prominent convicts in Austrian-Hungary – Russian General Lavr Georgijevitsch Kornilov, who was captured in May 1915 during the fights in Carpathian. On 11th August 1916 with a help of a Czech laboratory assistant Mrňák he fled from the emergency hospital in Kőszeg. Some of the documents connected to this event are not only in Military Archive in Vienna, but also in Military History Archive in Bratislava, in the file: 5 Command Corps. We choose an extract from them – the statements of examination of Dr. Maximilian Klein, the Comander of the emergency hospital in Kőszeg and a General´s servant Dimitrij Cezarskij. The documents are published in its original followed by Slovak translation.
