Vojenská história, 2, 13, 2009, pp. 3–25. The present paper is a second part of author’s study devoted to the Avar siege of Constantinople in 626. The main attention is paid to the most controversial part of that siege – the combined land and see attack on Blachernae region on August 7th. In the last portion of the text, author sumarises the reasons of Avar defeat and stress out the historical significance of that event.
