The study analyses the relation among historical sources of individual partial units mutually linking nationalistic ill wills in the area of Balkan peninsula, as well as their course of development in the 2nd half of 20th century. It deals with the causes of latent development of the nationalist pressures and confl icts in the age superfi cially marked as a peaceful co-existence of various nations in Balkan (the age of Yugoslavia communist federation, building of unitary state of the „socialist nation“ in Bulgaria and Romania etc.). It defines the role and the influence of the minority issue in the course of the development of nationalism in the whole area. Through a concrete study of the communist and post-communist age of Balkan republics the extract answers several theoretical questions on individual signs of nationalism as a phenomenon of 20th century.
