The study refers to the Russian Campaign of Austrian Reserve Corps in 1812 in Russia accompanying Napoleon’s Army. It describes the background of the clash being fought by Carl Philipp Schwarzenberg at Podubnie at the end of the first half of August 1812, ending in the victory of the Austrian Auxiliary Corps. The work is based on the sources of Österreichiches Staatsarchiv, Kriegsarchiv in Vienna. The author evaluates the preparation of the adversaries, their tactics or strategy of their Majors and it brings to the light plenty of new facts and information on the battle. The author adds detailed charts of the structure of the armies – the Austrian and the allied Saxon corps – in the period before the clash. Similarly, he describes the structure Russian 3rd Army of the West so that a careful reader has got a thorough view of the situation and the strength of the counterparts. The study is filled with detailed information (i. e: the disturbance of the night camp from a flock of wolves, or the details on some exhausting marches and so on) that contributes to the precise picture of the run of the events.
