The study concerned briefly describes the anti-fascist movement and the activities of partisans in Bánovce nad Bebravou and the surroundings, the locations being detached from the major uprising area aft er the Slovak National Uprising outbreak. The author describes the events until the end of November 1944. The first event described is the arrival of the first partisan patrol into the town in the night from 29th to 30th August. Meanwhile, the author states that “there is no complete agreement in the sources as of when the town was in fact taken over by the insurgents.” Most of the sources and the Municipal memory book mentions the date 29th August. The report of the county superintendent and an article of Štefan Obert states the date 30th August.“ The author of the study tends to be in favour of the 30th August 1944 as the more probable referring to the records of phone calls sent to Trenčín and the Headquarter of the Ministry of Defense to Bratislava. The date also mentions an archive source containing the overview on the results of the fights of the Brigade of Jan Žižka, located in the Military History Archive in Bratislava.
