The authors lean on the fact that the Slovak Army should have been built on the German „matrix“. There was a decisive milestone – the reorganising of the army in October 1940. The work deals with the change of the relations among the German counselling authorities and the Minister of Defence Ferdinand Čatloš after the return of the Slovak military delegation from Germany in September 1940. We can find two contemporary reports on the abovementioned study tour in the German Archive –The Military Archive (Bundesarchiv-Militärarchiv) in Freiburg (Bundesrepublik Deutchland) preserved in the fund RH 31 – Verbindungs-Kommandos und Stäbe. The author of one of them is colonel lieutenant von Langsdorff who was a member of the German military mission in Slovakia and accompanied the Slovak delegation during the internship. The second document is a report of Anton Ciprich from the Military Academy, containing his personal impressions from the trip. The report was preserved both in its Slovak original as well as the translation.

Key words: Military History. Slovakia. WWII. German-Slovak relations. Archive documents.
