The study deals with an interesting fact from the history of the Czechoslovak-American relations immediately aft er the end of the WWII – it was a secret operation prepared by a special unit in Czechoslovakia in February 1946 with the target to take over archiving documents of an unknown content, hidden by Germans some time to the end of the WWII in Štěchovice. The author sets the event to the context of the contemporary Czechoslovak-American relations assessing them as fairly good. Later on he follows up the preparation of the American institutions to enter the operational unit and the Czechoslovakia, the transport of the unit to Štěchovice, the pick up of the archiving documentation, their transport to Germany and other background connected to the event. He describes thoroughly the reactions of the Czechoslovak authorities aft er the reveal, including governmental members. Additionally he mentions the circumstances of giving back the taken materials to Czechoslovakia, as well as the complex factors decisive in the success of the American operation in Štěchovice.
