The author, a member of the Military Symbols Committee, an advisory body to the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic for issuing military medals and decorations, provides a critical assessment of rules governing faleristics, points out the fundamental terminology deficiencies in the field of military medals and decorations. At the same time, openly and without mystifying, the author warns about all the serious mistakes and shortages in the given field and provides feasible solutions.
