 The study deals with the emergence and development of military symbolism in the Czechoslovak legions in Russia, France and Italy during the First World War (1914 – 1918) as well as during the post-war period until 1920, from the viewpoint of applying the rules of phaleristics, heraldry and vexilology. Discussed in detail, characterized and described are individual types of military symbols, especially military flags, uniforms, military ranks and insignia, types of arms and services, military decorations, as well as other symbols relating to the given period.
