The author of the published paper deals with an event that occurred more than fifty years ago, to be precise, on 3 July 1956, in the town of Lom nad Rimavicou. 21 officers were killed in the air crash - members of the Czechoslovak People’s Army. The cause ofthis huge tragedy was a mystery for the public for a long time. In 2011, to mark the 55th anniversary ofthe plane crash, village authorities of Lom nad Rimavicou unveiled a memorial, which will be a constant reminder of one of the biggest air disasters in Slovakia. During this occasion the community leaders tried to uncover the circumstances surrounding the accident and, in collaboration with the Military History Institute in Bratislava, they managed to do so. After many years ofwaiting, local villagers and relatives ofthe victims learned the information.
