The contribution deals with the course of military service of the poet Štefan Žáry from his entry into the military service in the 3" Infantry Regiment in Zvolen in October 1942 until he was transferred to the reserve army after termination of the guarantine of the former 2" technical division members of the Slovak Army in Malacky at the end of August 1945, ranking as the lieutenant in reserve. The author explained the effort of Š. Žáry to obtain the editor position at the Department of National Defence in Bratislava as well as the editorial activity related to publication of the magazine, “Front a vlasť“ (Front and Homeland) during the work at the technical division in Italy.
